The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the
result of the May/June SSCE examination with 118,101 results of
candidates being withheld, Vanguard reports.
The head of WAEC National office Mr. Charles Eguridu, while speaking at a press conference in Lagos said that the result was out and
that 1.5 million students sat for the examination.
He said further that there was huge improvement in candidates performance compare to the previous year’s result
where only 529,425 representing 31.28 per cent obtained five credits in
English and Mathematics. Eguridu also disclosed that the number of states owing WAEC had reduced from 19 to 13.
He said that public school candidates of the affected states would
not get their results until their state government paid their
registration fees.
”Out of 1,593,442 candidates who sat for the examinations, only
616,370 candidates, representing 38.68% obtained credits in five
subjects and above including English Language and Mathematics.”
