Hausa Traders Clash With Road Workers In Ekiti State Capital

Some hoodlums who covered their face with mask have attacked the Hausa community in Akikankan area of Ekiti state this morning.  Many shops and goods were destroyed by the agent of darkness ( hoodlums) in the attack.

According to Linda Ikeji, residents and the traders said they have yet to understand the reasons behind the attack.

However, The Sun online reports says that the violence could be connected to what happened on tuesday night in Ijigbo old garage of Ado-Ekiti, were thieves snatched the bag of the wife of a chieftain of road transport workers. In an attempt to recover the stolen bag by the husband of the woman who is the chieftain of the road worker union. violence broke out and spread like bush fire to other parts of the state capital.

According to report reaching us, three people may have died during the incident, five vehicles belonging to the drivers were vandalized and their windscreens broken while close to 15 houses and offices rented by the Hausas were either completely burnt or vandalized.
